Connect With Content
Whichever of the three work tabs you select in the Navigation Bar - build, design or pages - there will be a toolbar on the left-hand side of the workscreen that allows you to manage functions within that area.
In the Build tab, this toolbar contains content boxes for all the types of content you may want to insert into your webpage. The toolbar is divided into several different sections, each containing a different type of content.
To insert content on the page, move the cursor over the desired content box. Click onto that box and hold down the mouse button. Drag the content to the desired area of the page.
Using Content
Once content boxes have been dragged and dropped into the main area of the page you're building, simply click them to open the editing box. Different features are available in those editing boxes depending on the type of content. Some include:

- Content can be added above or below other types of already-added content
- Drag content boxes to the left or right of other content boxes to create columns within your page
Using Content
Once content boxes have been dragged and dropped into the main area of the page you're building, simply click them to open the editing box. Different features are available in those editing boxes depending on the type of content. Some include:
- Word processing features
- Ability to upload images/documents/files
- Format changes (spacing, colors, justification)
- Ability to attach a hyperlink to the content
- New content toolbars to add additional content
- Areas to check for responses (to forms/RSVPs)
- Links to affiliated sites to create content without leaving Weebly
Types of Content
Several different types of content can be added to a Weebly page through the different sections of the content toolbar found on the left side of the screen while in the Build tab.
The Basic section of the toolbar contains the most common types of content used on webpages
Title allows users to insert a headline into the page. This is a larger, bolder font to help differentiate sections of the site
Image allows users to insert a picture into a webpage. Users can search for a photo from Weebly's archives, upload an image from their computer or link to a URL of an online image Using Slideshow, users can insert a slideshow of many images. Several slideshow templates are available. Images can be captioned, and hyperlinks can be added to them With Contact Form, insert a form to allow users to connect with you and/or leave a comment. |
Placing a Text Box in a page enables page builders to add words/text into the page
Gallery creates a section where images are shown side-by-side. Gallery photos are all shown together, not rotated through as with slideshow Map allows the addition of a Google map image of a desired location With Assignment Form, teachers can allow students to submit assignments by uploading them to the Weebly site Drag the Embed Code box into the page to embed another program - such as a Google Form - into the page |
The features in this section help to add elements to help organize your page.
Divider places a horizontal divider line into the page to help separate sections.
Button enables users to insert a button to serve as a more decorative placeholder for a link |
Spacer provides a section of blank space within the page. This can be placed above/below or next to other elements
Search Box is a pro feature (all elements with stars on the content box are paid features. |
The elements in this section allow the addition of multi-media content.
HD Video is a paid feature that allows you to upload HD video clips from your computer
Document permits you to embed and view a document within the body of the page With the Flash box, users can add an .swf file into the page |
The Audio box, another paid feature, allows the insertion of audio files into the page.
YouTube will embed a YouTube video into the page File lets you upload a file into the page, which users can click on to download to view/save on their computers |
The "More" section contains additional types of content to enhance the design of your page and allow communication with your readers.
With Block Quote, a section of text can be visually featured on the page.
Social Icons encourages communication by inserting and linking to your social media accounts Survey lets you add a survey with a variety of question types - multiple choice, text entry, dropdown - into the page. *A new content toolbar opens on the left when editing a survey to add content to the survey. Through a pairing with BookFresh, users can make appointments and Bookings via their Weebly site. |
Create and embed a Poll with Poll Daddy right through your Weebly editor.
Insert an RSVP Form with customizable feeds to gather whatever information you need. Embed an RSS feed into the website with Feed Reader Create a place for interactive discussion with Forums. Users can log in with Weebly accounts or several other types of account (Yahoo, Google, etc.). Free accounts can open up to five forum threads. |
